Easy healthy moves: Desk Therapy

  May 29th, 2009 by lianna

No time to hit the gym? Try Desk Yoga!Yeah, I know. It’s hard to sneak in a few hours of gym/yoga time when you’re constantly shipping the kids from soccer to ballet, making dinner, packing lunches, watching TV, and oh yeah — working. But if you have a few minutes to spare in between responding to emails and scheduling carpools, check out this video and take a “health break”.

These easy moves from DeskTherapy.com can be done sitting on a chair at your desk, at home, even in the car. Give your muscles a treat and try it. My favorite is the “Figure 8″.

My Life in Food

  May 29th, 2009 by Laura

Healthy foodI went to the nutritionist yesterday for my 3rd visit in a quest to become healthier. So far, so good. It’s not too bad, four weeks in. You just really have to watch those portion sizes. We are all so spoiled by huge restaurant plates. But what I do like about this plan is that I am now required to eat every 2 1/2 hours, even if I’m not eating the stuff I might really want. So for example, this morning I had a protein shake for breakfast and a yogurt for a mid-morning snack. Followed by a turkey sandwich on wheat and side salad at lunch, and a protein bar mid-afternoon. Not so bad, right? Now just to figure out the late afternoon snack and dinner….ugh!

And if you don’t live in Georgia, you’re probably feeling the effects of the spring season. Though rain is essential, the recent precipitation has left some homeowners with a leaky situation.

When it comes to roof damage, you may not see a leak immediately. It could takes years before damage affects the interior of your home.

If you were hit by strong storms or hail recently, it makes sense to have your roof checked for storm damage and get in line for a roof replacement covered by your insurance company.

How not to drive: Lessons from the Queen of Fender-Benders

  May 27th, 2009 by lianna

A car crashing into a tree. Not my car.I just got my car back from Northeast Body Shop in Atlanta, after a week-long visit. This time the little Honda was in for a minor cosmetic procedure — a bumper replacement due to an unfortunate case of Angry Driver Syndrome

This was my fourth visit to the body shop in the past year. Three my fault, one not. How does this happen, you must wonder. How is it possible that a perfectly capable woman with many years driving experience manage to scrape, slam and screech her car into so many hard places? Ah, the secret belies in one word: Confidence.
